Health Over Highways: Highway Removal and Parkway Restoration
2020s-Present

The Scajaquada Corridor Coalition (SCC), with history going back to the 2000s, announced funding for partial highway removal of the Scajaquada Expressway.
2021

The NYSDOT announces $1 billion to support a project on the Kensington Expressway, named at this time as a tunnel, based on an inappropriately limited Environmental Assessment (EA).
2022

2023

Five lawsuits against the proposed tunnel project are filed from ESP, New York Civil Liberties Union, WNY Youth Climate Council, Coalition for Economic Justice, and Citizens for Regional Transit. The estimated cost of the tunnel balloons to $1.5 billion plus more than $5 million for maintenance annually.
2024
